Twitter's new verification scheme will have two checkmarks, one unbuyable

Twitter's new verification plan will have two different systems. Company VP Esther Crawford, who is leading the revamped Twitter Blue, said that even though Blue Tick is available as a subscription, certain accounts will have an 'official' label.

According to Twitter, the official label will be 'reserved' for government, commercial companies, business partners, major media outlets, publishers and certain public figures. However, it is not clear which account will be eligible for this.

A lot of folks have asked about how you'll be able to distinguish between @TwitterBlue subscribers with blue checkmarks and accounts that are verified as official, which is why we're introducing the "Official" label to select accounts when we launch. pic
