Sam Altman, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OpenAI has announced a cryptocurrency project called World Coin. It is said that this project will verify the digital identity of the users and give them financial access. For this, the company is going to give World ID to the users.

The company has described it as a 'digital passport'. It will identify real people and AI bots online. It is said that to get their World ID, users have to scan their eyes with a biometric imaging device called 'Orb'.

Only after this process is completed, 'Arab' will create the World ID of the user. For this, the company has placed more than 1,500 billions in different places around the world. The IDs generated from this will be kept in the blockchain. The company said that the reason for doing this is to make it decentralized and secure.

The company says that no one group can control those World IDs. According to the company, work was being done on this project for the past three years. At that time, the beta version of the project was released. So far, more than 2 million people have signed up for it.

Now, the company plans to advance this project in more than 35 cities of 20 countries. For this, the company is going to give its cryptocurrency token called 'WLD' to new users in some countries.

After announcing this project, founder Sam Altman tweeted that World IDs are necessary in the age of generative AI. He wrote that if this project is successful, it will save people from the economic effects of generative AI. Along with Altman, Alex Blania and Max Novendstern are co-founders of the project.
