The US government has offered a reward of up to 10 million for information leading to the capture of a hacker
The US government has announced a reward of up to 10 million, or about 1.18 billion, for information leading to the capture of Darkside's ransomware hackers.
The US government has taken this step as the hacking activities of the RyanSomware hacker groups are increasing. The U.S. government has accused Russian hackers of being behind an online attack last May that forced the closure of the largest oil pipeline in the eastern United States.
The U.S. government has announced the bounty for anyone who leads or leaks information about any area of Darkside ransomware.
Similarly, the US government has announced a bounty of ५० 5 million, or about करोड 600 million, for information leading to the arrest or conviction of anyone linked to Darkside RyanSomware in any country.
"By announcing this bounty, the US government demonstrates its commitment to protecting victims around the world from the attacks of ransomware criminals," the statement said.
However, some cybersecurity experts say the US government's announcement will not help identify the culprits. Cyber-attacks have been on the rise in recent times.
In the first six months of 2021 alone, US 590 million, or about 69 billion, was paid for ransomware attacks, according to a report released by the US Agency for International Development in October.
The aggrieved companies and organizations are forced to pay to get their data back, while the concerned bodies are also pressuring them.
"Does having a mobile tower on the house affect radiation or not?"
Lately, the trend of not allowing the construction of mobile towers in houses and settlements has increased. Locals are reluctant to have towers in many places, as they emit radiation and affect health.
Meanwhile, the government has directed the Nepal Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to conduct a technical study on whether the radiation emitted from mobile towers affects human health or how risk mitigation can be done.
The meeting of the Ministry-level Development Problem Solving Committee has directed NEA to take up the matter immediately.
This issue has been included in the first quarterly review of the current Fiscal Year 2078/07. Earlier, NEA had prepared criteria for reducing the radiation emitted from mobile towers.
Keeping in view the health and safety of the people, NEA has recently issued regulations in 2076 regarding the safety of the public and workers from electromagnetic radiation (EMR) generated from mobile towers.
Under this, it is mentioned that the telecommunication service provider installing and operating the mobile tower should make arrangements to emit electromagnetic radiation only as prescribed. According to the regulations, different criteria have been set for the common man and the person working in the tower. It has been mentioned that the criteria of such radiation emission should also be different according to the radio frequency range.
As per the regulations, the electric field strength at the level of 10 to 400 MHz should be 28 volts per meter for the base station of mobile. Magnetic field strength should be 0.073 amp per meter and power density should be 2 watts per square meter.
Similarly, 400 to 2000 MHz, 2 to 300 GHz electric field strength, magnetic field strength, and power density are different for ordinary people and workers.
According to this, there is a provision that the tower should emit 5 times less electromagnetic radiation for the common man than the worker.
Despite such provisions, the government has directed the NEA to conduct a feasibility study saying that there is a growing trend of not allowing the construction of mobile towers in houses and settlements.
He will study the issue of non-emission of radiation from mobile towers and its effects on the human body. NEA has stated that the study has been started for that.
Instructions to immediately expedite the process of spreading Nepal's own optical fiber to the sea
The government has instructed NEA to immediately expedite the process of bringing internet by spreading its own optical fiber to sea level.
During the meeting of the Ministerial Development Problem Solving Committee and the first quarterly review of the current Fiscal Year 2078/07, NEA has been instructed to give high priority to this project and move ahead effectively.
The project of laying its own optical fiber up to sea level has been under discussion for a long time. However, the meeting was directed to move ahead immediately as no result was forthcoming.
The project was initiated by the regulatory Nepal Telecommunication Authority to bring cheap internet bandwidth.
NEA has allocated Rs. 300 million for this purpose in the current fiscal year. However, the study is in the final stages. NEA has stated that it is planning to prepare TOR and invite bids after the study.
According to the policy of the World Telecommunication Union (ITU), it is also a matter of Nepal's right to have its own optical fiber access to the nearby sea level. Through which Nepal is expected to establish its own optical fiber access to the sea level and easily access the imported internet bandwidth.
Due to the lack of such access so far, Nepal's network service providers are forced to purchase expensive internet bandwidth through carriers in India and China. As a result, even the internet that Nepali users get has become expensive.
