While the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and iPhone Duo appear to have kickstarted the wide-format foldable revolution, another major shift is taking place in the market. It seems people really appreciate the wide 'form factor'—even in non-folding phones.

Although the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and iPhone Duo are highly popular, Huawei was actually the first company to introduce a wide-format phone with the Pura X. The company took a significant risk by unveiling a wide, non-folding phone earlier this month during the launch event for the 'Enjoy G-9 SUV'.

In hindsight, that risk appears to be paying off. The Pura X View has set record-breaking sales figures in its first week, demonstrating consumer eagerness for this new form factor. According to details posted by the prominent Chinese tipster 'Digital Chat Station', over 280,000 units of the Pura X View were sold in just five days.

This outstanding sales performance has propelled the Pura X View to the top spot among all 'wide-screen' phones across various brands during the 37th week of 2026.

Back in the early 2010s, as phone display sizes began to increase, the term 'phablet' was coined to describe devices featuring screens ranging from 5 to 6.9 inches. As nearly all smartphone brands shifted toward larger screens and compact 6-to-7-inch tablets vanished from the market, the term fell out of use. The Pura X View evokes memories of that era, and in a sense, it is being viewed as a comeback of the "phablet."

However, the Pura X View is not merely a rehash of an old concept; it is essentially a non-folding "Pura X Max." By assessing the market, Huawei aims to determine whether consumers desire a wider form factor in phones other than just foldables.

The Huawei Pura X View features a 6.39-inch screen with a 5:3 aspect ratio. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate, and according to the specifications, its peak brightness can reach up to 6,500 nits.
