Technology of display

When you buy a new smartphone, you pay a lot of attention to your phone's camera, battery, processor. But on the screen where you spend most of your time, you don't care.

You may not be paying attention to the screen, even if you don't know much about the new technology. Because technology is changing so fast these days that if you don't get regular updates, you will fall behind.

In this case, to understand the technology of the screen, it is necessary to take care of its vocabulary. You are definitely hearing terms like IPS LCD, TFT LCD, AMOLED, SUPER AMOLED.

But it is very difficult to tell what these are and which screen is suitable for you. There are two things you need to pay special attention to when choosing a smartphone screen.

One is the screen size and the other is the PPI per inch. Today we are going to tell you about the different types of screen technology.

LCD (liquid crystal display)

We have been using LCD displays for the last few years. We used CRT monitors when we first used computers. It was replaced by an LCD monitor.

But the LCD screen you get on mobile is not directly available as LCD. There have been various improvements in this too. Such as TFT LCD, IPS LCD, SIPS LCD, Super LCD.

TNP LCD

Your computer monitor has a lot of TN panels i.e. twisted pneumatic panels. 10, 11 years ago, these panels were used in cheap Android phones. Its quality is very useless. It also consumes a lot of energy. The thick and weaving angle is also not attractive in it.

TFT LCD

Some improvements were made to the TFT (thin-film-transistor LCD) display. But it didn't work out so well.

The contrast is not so good and the color does not look bright. It looks very soft. The viewing angle is also not very good and the power consumption is also high.

IPS LCD

IPS i.e. in-plane switching LCD. This is one of the best LCD screens. It takes special care of three things.

The color production is very accurate. The color seen on this screen is like the color seen by the naked eye in the environment. Its viewing angle has also been greatly increased.

It also has a view of 176.178 degrees when viewed from the side. It is very thin. It is provided in conjunction with the phone's digitizer.

Super LCD

Super LCD was made by improving TFT LCD. But it didn't turn out as well as the so-called super LCD.

HTC's phones were similar to the One M Seven, M Eight, the company used this type of LCD in those phones. The technology was good but not as good as IPS.

OLED or AMOLED

OLED is an organic LED screen technology. This is different from LCD technology. The LCD had to be illuminated by giving a backlight behind the full screen.

All the colors you see on the screen are possible because the backlight of the screen is on. Who used to consume a lot of power. But OLED made each pixel of the phone one LED.

Because of this, the screen does not need a backlight and only the required pixels are turned on when needed. It also saves power. It has two main uses.

One is black. Pixels are turned on only when needed. When the pixels are not turned on, then it is pure black. Unlike other screens, color blends are not artificial black. In the second, the contrast ratio is quite clear. Pure white over black and white.

IPS LCD Versus AMOLED

If we compare IPS and AMOLED, the color in IPS is very pure. The color is not pure in Amoled. But it is considered a good color for the eyes. Brightness is low in IPS and high in AMOLED.

In terms of brightness, IPS also looks good in sunlight. Because it has a backlight. Amoled has light in every pixel and it can't be seen well.

Amoled consumes less power than IPS. The IPS is slightly thicker but the AMOLED is much lighter and thinner. Amoled is also more expensive than IPS in price.

The controversy over color accuracy has ended today. Because nowadays every phone has the option to increase or decrease the color temperature.

Retina display

Retina display is currently the most specialized display technology. Which Apple has named Retina Display. Retina is a marketing tool used by Apple. There was a lot of discussion about it.

But there is nothing special about it. This is an IPS LCD display. It has a lot of pixel density. Every high-end smartphone today uses a retina display.
