Nepal has scored 79.65 out of 100 points. This assessment has been made on the basis of five main criteria. According to which, Nepal has scored 96 points in the area of labor cost, which shows Nepal as a highly cost-effective destination for outsourcing.
Similarly, the score of 80 obtained according to another criterion shows that Nepal has a good availability of English-speaking manpower. Nepal scored 50 on human resource availability.
Nepal scored 40 on digital infrastructure, while Nepal scored 50 on business, legal and political stability.
The Global Outsourcing Talent Index ranks countries by weighting five key factors: labor costs (52.5%), English language proficiency (20%), workforce availability (17.5%), digital infrastructure (5%), and business, legal and political stability (5%).
The study used official data from the World Bank, UNESCO, LinkedIn, EF English Proficiency Index and TOEFL results, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the Heritage Foundation.
Why is this index important?
This index is specifically designed for startup founders, human resource (HR) leaders, and investors looking for skilled and affordable human resources globally. According to the report, while national averages for digital infrastructure or English language proficiency appear low, at the individual level skilled professionals tend to have high-speed internet and excellent language skills, which are important for outsourcing.
Nepal’s 19th position indicates that Nepali manpower is becoming competitive in the global market, especially in areas such as IT, digital marketing, accounting and customer service. This has the potential to help establish Nepal as a major hub for remote work and outsourcing for international companies.
