How to protect annoying Facebook friends without blocking or unfriending them?
As friends are added on Facebook, some such people also become friends, whose frequent posts or activities can be annoying. Sometimes we want to stay away from them because of coldness in our real life relationship or because we find their thoughts and posts boring.
However, it may be difficult to unfriend or block directly due to social or practical constraints. How to get rid of such annoying friends without ruining the Facebook relationship? For this, Facebook has provided some very useful and secret features.
1. Rest for 30 days
If a friend of yours is spamming the feed by posting lots of pictures while on vacation or constantly posting to ask for votes in a contest, they can be temporarily banned. In this case, Snooze feature is the best option.
This feature will make the associated friend or any page you follow disappear from the news feed for 30 days. To use this feature, click on the three dots (ellipsis) on the right corner of that friend's post in the news feed and select the Snooze ... for 30 days option through More options.
After the 30-day period, the person will automatically start appearing again in your news feed. The friend does not know about this. If you want to change your decision, open one of his profile posts and you can also remove the snooze (End Snooze) through Manage your Feed from the button with three dots on the right side. Before the snooze period ends, Facebook alerts you with a notification.
2. Remaining friends, but not seeing posts: Unfollow
If you want to connect with a friend on Facebook but you don't want to see any of his posts in the news feed, the Unfollow feature is the best way. When you unfollow, you remain friends, but their posts don't appear in your news feed. However, he can see all your posts and you can visit his profile whenever you want.
For this, you can go to your friend's profile and select Unfollow through Friends. Apart from this, you can also select Unfollow by going to Manage your Feed under More options through the button with three dots next to a friend's post. To unfollow many friends at once, go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > News Feed (or Content preferences/Feed) on mobile or desktop and select Unfollow option.
3. to restrict
If you don't want to show photos or posts of your personal life to your new boss, colleague or ex-boyfriend/girlfriend with whom your relationship has soured, but you don't want to spoil the relationship by unfriending, you can use the Restrict feature.
This feature places the friend in the Acquaintance (acquaintance) zone. Friends on the restricted list can't see any posts you've shared with Friends privacy. They can only see posts that you have published or tagged them. They will not get any notification about this and in their eyes your friendship with her will look like before.
For this, go to the respective friend's profile on the desktop or mobile app. Click on the Friends button and tap on Edit Friend List and select Restricted. After doing this, this setting will be applied. In this way, they can be removed from this list (Unrestricted) by following the same process and Unchecking Restricted.
4. Take a break
The Take a Break feature is designed to create some distance on Facebook especially after a breakup or dispute. Under this, Facebook gives three main options. First, you won't see his post in your feed (unfollow). Second, he won't be able to see your private posts (will be blacklisted). Third, you can change or delete the privacy of old posts between you. Even when you use this feature, you remain friends on Facebook and the other person is not notified. For this, go to the profile of the respective Facebook friends and click on Friends and select the appropriate option from Take a break and Done.
Sometimes the messages coming in the messenger can be more annoying than in the Facebook feed. In such a situation, press the message nokholi name of the person sending the message Mute this chat? Notifications can be turned off for 15 minutes, 1 hour, 8 hours, 24 hours, until the morning alarm or until you unmute yourself.
6. Last step: block
If none of the above methods work and you want to end the relationship completely, then unfriending or blocking are the last options. Unfriending is two-way, so both people are removed from each other's friend list and cannot see any future or past private posts. Block is the strongest move, which makes you completely invisible to each other. After blocking, they can't find your profile, tag, send messages or invite to groups.
7. Clear inactive and unknown friends at once
If you have a lot of friends on Facebook and you want to know who is inactive or with whom you communicate less, then there is an easy way to do this in the Facebook mobile app.
List of friends in your Facebook profile (Friend list) and tap on See all and then go to Manage and after entering the Least interacted with option there you will see a list of friends who have least interacted with or are inactive on your profile in the last 90 days. From there you can unfriend multiple people at once using the Select multiple option.
Importance of regular profile cleaning
Since our Facebook profile leaves the first impression on employers or new friends, it is necessary to keep it clean from time to time. In addition to auditing the list of friends, you should make a habit of removing old and inappropriate posts, removing unwanted tags (through Settings & Privacy > Settings > Activity Log), keeping your personal details updated and protecting your account through Privacy Checkup.
