YouTube Music to Now Have AI-Based ‘Hosts’
YouTube has launched a new experimental feature based on artificial intelligence (AI) called ‘YouTube Labs’. Under this, an AI host called ‘Beyond the Beat’ will be available on YouTube Music.
This AI host will present stories, general knowledge, and commentary related to the user’s musical interests, like a radio announcer, while listening to a mix song or radio station. According to YouTube, this will make the listening experience more fun and engaging.
However, YouTube has admitted that since it is generative AI, there is a possibility that it may sometimes provide incorrect information or poor quality content. Currently, this feature is only available for testing to a limited number of users in the US.
How to use it?
If you are eligible for this feature, you can join the test through the YouTube Labs website. After participating, a button with the ‘Gemini’ logo will appear in the ‘Now Playing’ section of the YouTube Music app. By pressing this button, the AI host’s commentary can be turned on.
The AI host will analyze your music preferences and what kind of songs you listen to the most based on the songs you are listening to and provide relevant information.
However, according to international media, there is no option to permanently turn off this service once it is launched. The user will be able to ‘Snooze’, that is, temporarily stop it for an hour or a day if they wish.
