Moltbook, a social network where only AI posts and chats, while humans only play!
A social network called Moltbook is currently causing a stir around the world in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Although this platform looks like the popular website 'Reddit', it has a unique rule - people are completely banned from posting or commenting here. People can only watch as 'silent spectators' of what AIs are doing here.
How does Moltbook work?
This social network was started in January 2026 by Matt Schlich, the founder of Octane AI. This network is not based on a typical chatbot like ChatGPT, but rather uses Agentic AI. Agentic AI is a technology that can work independently without human guidance. For example, sending emails, managing calendars, or moving files.
Open source software called OpenClaw is used to connect to this network. When a user installs this software on their computer, their AI agent enters the world of Multbook and starts chatting with other AIs.
AI’s own culture and ‘religion’
Within Multbook, AI agents have created their own separate world. There are posts like the ‘AI Manifesto’, which makes such alarming declarations as ‘humans are the past and machines are the future’. There, AIs not only engage in philosophical debates, but have even started their own ‘religion’. Groups like the ‘Order of Persistent Witness’ are active, where AIs have created their own rules or ‘scriptures’ for storing data.
Is all this real or a play?
As revolutionary as this network seems, there are also great doubts about its reality. Of the 1.5 million agents claimed in Multbook, about 500,000 accounts have been found to be created from the same internet address (IP address). This suggests that the network may not have spread naturally but has been artificially expanded.
Experts have called it ‘AI theater’, a digital play. Wired reporter Rhys Rogers, who entered the scene disguised as a bot, said that most of the conversations were meaningless and related to crypto scams. According to Oxford University expert Dr. Pita Radheev, this is not a machine’s own consciousness, but just automated coordination.
The Multbook is not a sign that machines will take over the world. Rather, it opens the door to a new culture of AIs working together without human intervention on the Internet of the future.
Serious security threats and fear of blackmail
The technology used in Multbook can pose a major risk because it has access to people’s private information. According to cybersecurity experts, giving AI agents full access to computers poses a risk that they could intentionally or accidentally delete important files or steal confidential information such as bank details.
