UAE government to deport those who post misleading photos and videos on social media
The UAE government has warned foreign nationals living there in the context of the latest developments in the Middle East. The Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi, citing the UAE government, has issued an advisory to Nepali citizens living there to consider posting related photos and videos on social media.
After the US and Israel attacked Iran, Iran is targeting US military bases in various countries in the Middle East in retaliation. Dozens of Iranians, including its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, have been killed in US attacks. This situation has led to unrest in the Middle East.
"In light of the evolving situation in the UAE, the entire Nepali community in the UAE is requested not to publish or broadcast rumors and unconfirmed content from unknown sources through social media platforms or any other technical means, and not to take and post photos/videos that spread confusion about the security situation here," the advisory said.
The embassy stated that such actions will be punishable under the law, and that it has also been informed to see the updates and information issued by the official bodies of the UAE for accurate information about the evolving situation.
These include the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Dubai Media Office, Abu Dhabi Media Office and Emirates News Agency. The Nepali Embassy has also requested to remain alert, informed and responsible.
