What kind of students why study CTEVT's IT?

The result of SEE has come. Some students are in two minds about which college to study and which subject. In this case, some colleges have already taken the entrance exam. Some have started the admission process.

If you are also sitting for SEE and planning to make a future in the field of Information Technology (IT), then the Information and Technology courses conducted by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) may be suitable. CTEVT was established to produce the necessary technical and skilled manpower for the country.

What is the study?

CTEVT has been conducting educational programs in four categories namely agriculture, hospitality, health, and engineering. The study of Information Technology (IT) is under Engineering.

CTEVT is conducting various IT courses at both pre-diploma and diploma levels. Computer engineering, computer application, and secretarial management are studied at the pre-diploma level (18 months).

Similarly, computer engineering and information technology (IT) are taught at the diploma level (three years). CTEVT is conducting these courses in 106 different educational institutes across the country.

There are 23 schools affiliated and approved by CTEVT, 11 private schools, 62 community schools under Technical Education (TECS) modality, and 10 educational institutions under the partnership (village/town) modality. However, other courses of CTEVT are also being conducted in a total of 1,115 educational institutions across the country.

Scholarships and Fees

CTEVT has been giving free scholarships to students for various educational programs every year for pre-diploma level and diploma levels. This year too, for 29 educational programs, 2 thousand 913 students at the diploma level and 1 thousand 814 at the pre-diploma level are being given free scholarships to 4 thousand 331 students.

According to Anil Bajracharya, information officer of CTEVT, it usually costs between 75,000 and 4 lakh rupees depending on the educational institution for studying IT courses in CTEVT.

According to him, it is easy to get a job because you can become skilled by studying for a year in CTEVT. "60 percent of those who have passed CTEVT are employed," he says, "CTEVT is suitable for students who want to learn technical skills and get employment or start their own enterprise."

What is the difference between pre-diploma and diploma levels?

The pre-diploma level is 18 months. It consists of 15 months of course study and three months of practice. It doesn't matter how many marks you get in SEE to study Pre-Diploma. But the diploma level is a three-year (6 semester) course.

A minimum GPA of two should be obtained in SEE to study the courses in it. A minimum GPA of 2 with at least a C grade in Mathematics, Science, and English is required to study health subjects.

Similarly, to study engineering subjects, one should get at least a C grade in Mathematics and Science and at least a D plus grade in English and bring a minimum GPA of 2.

To study Agriculture and Hospitality subjects, one should get at least a C grade in any two subjects out of Mathematics, Science, and English and at least a D plus grade in one subject and bring a minimum GPA of 2.

After passing the pre-diploma level, one cannot pursue graduation. For that, you have to enroll in class plus two while studying for a pre-diploma. However, after studying the diploma course, you can get admission to graduation easily.

After IT SEE study in CTEVT or in graduation?

Many people believe that the IT course at the graduate level is more suitable than the IT course at CTEVT. "There is an understanding in the society that CTEVT courses are for students who are weak in studies and cannot progress in studies, which is true," he says.

"Especially for those who want to work immediately, study after working for a few years, this course is good. But for students who only spend time in studies, it is fine to study IT in graduation after studying any other subject in Plus Two (higher M.A. level). By doing that, a year will be skipped. We have a curriculum that complements undergraduate courses.”

Who is this plan suitable for?

Even now, many people say that if you get good results, you should study science. As a result, CTEVT is not becoming a destination for such students. Nepal Banepa Polytechnic Institute is the first college to teach IT subjects at the diploma level.

Suraj Kumar Hakka, head of the IT department of the college, says that since CTEVT takes admissions at the last minute, there is no attraction of students at the diploma level. He also said that there is no initiative to attract good students.

What happens after studying at CTEVT?

The knowledge gained after studying a subject and the job that can be found in the related field is important. It is said that after studying at CTEVT, it will not be difficult to get a job in the market.

But this subject also depends on the student concerned. Telling that many students who have passed from his school are now employed in various organizations, Hakka says, "Nowadays the market demands skills, as the CTEVT course teaches skills that are in demand in the market, there is no need to be unemployed after studying."

Since the diploma level is the same as Class 12, you can compete up to Naib Subba on the technical side under Civil Service. Similarly, after acquiring technical knowledge, the option of becoming self-employed will always remain open. If you want to study further higher education, you can easily get admission in graduation.

If you study IT at the Diploma level, you can also take IT-related courses like BCA, BSc IT, BSc CSIT, and BIM.

How easy is studying abroad after CTEVT?

Information officer Bajracharya says that after completing the CTVTE course, it will not be difficult to go abroad for studies. He says, "Actually, our objectives are different. We focus on the production of technical manpower.

The manpower required by the market should be produced. When a student goes out to study IT, he has to take the science entrance exam. However, science is taught here in the first year as well. There the name should be selected based on merit. Since we only have one year of science education, the science entrance exam can be difficult."

Apart from IT, what other subjects are there in engineering?

Apart from IT, courses like automobile, architecture, civil, electrical, mechanical, and geometrical engineering are also available under CTEVT engineering.
