The case against Amazon for arbitrarily increasing the price of e-books

A lawsuit has been filed against Amazon for allegedly raising the price of e-books in collaboration with five book publishers. A law firm called Hagens Berman has filed a lawsuit against Amazon in US federal district court.

According to the firm, the retail price of the e-book increased as the publisher offered Amazon higher commissions as well as other expenses.

E-books have been developed in collaboration with publishers such as Amazon and HarperCollins, Hatchet Book Group, Penguin, Random House, Simon & Suster, and Macmillan.

These five publishers also account for 80 percent of the e-book market in the United States. It is mentioned in the writ petition that the huge commission paid to Amazon is also affecting the price of e-books sold in the market.
